September 13 Christ the King Rutland 6-9 p.m. Diocese Announces Dates for Pre-Cana Team Couple Certification Program With the marriage preparation/enrichment curriculum, “One in Christ” as its basis, the Diocese of Burlington has announced a new enrichment program to ensure that all couples who teach marriage preparation have the best possible foundation. The 3-part series will offer all couples who teach pre-Cana classes an opportunity for personal enrichment as well as certification in pre-Cana preparation. As stated in the course brochure, the goals of the program are: • To enrich, renew and inspire the couples who form pre-Cana teams by offering a meaningful opportunity for reflection on, and catechetical review of, the tenets of the Catholic faith, particularly those relevant to the vocation of marriage. • To lift up the centrality of faith in informing and guiding marriage so that teaching couples may in turn help evangelize and inspire engaged couples to participate fully in the life of the Church. • To better enable couples to access the grace of the Sacrament of Marriage and the prayer, support and resources of the Church community in building a strong and lasting marriage. COLCHESTER--Bishop John O. Barres, Fourth Bishop of Allentown, Penn., will give the keynote address at the annual Gifts for the Kingdom conference at St. Michael’s College. The conference theme is “Enlighten Us, Lord.” The afternoon keynote will be given by Damien O’Connor, director of Pastoral Services for the Diocese of Bridgeport, Conn. His topic will be “The Holy Family’s Response to God’s Call Changed Salvation History” and will focus on family priorities. The conference will begin with Mass at 9 a.m. celebrated by Bishop Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Burlington. There will be 10 one-hour workshops in the afternoon.
