Las Posadas procession, caroling, parish potluck dinner

BRANDON--On Saturday, Dec. 17, the religious education students at Our Lady of Good Help Church will be participating in an activity called Las Posadas.

Las Posadas is a celebration during which Mexican families perform nightly Christmas processions that re-create the Holy Pilgrimage of Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem, wherein they ask for shelter and are turned away from different homes.

The classes will begin at the church at 2 p.m. and will go up and down Carver Street to four homes of parishioners, seeking shelter for Mary and Joseph, where they will be turned away each time. (They will be caroling as they walk to each home, and they have a live donkey for their journey).

All parishioners are welcome to join in Las Posadas. When participants arrive back at the church, they will attend the 4 p.m. Mass, followed by a Christmas potluck dinner at the church hall for all parishioners, a Christmas tree and presents for parish students and Santa Claus.
