Adult enrichment

BENNINGTON--Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington and St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington will celebrate the diocesan Year of
Creation with a four-session adult enrichment program to study and share insights about Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.” Participants may attend any or all of the sessions.
 
Ladato Si’ Adult Enrichment Schedule:
+ Session one: Monday, Sept. 18. Introduction, video and background sharing 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist in North Bennington after 9 a.m. Mass.
Evening: 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales in Bennington.
Read chapters 1 and 2 for session two.
 
+ Session two: Monday, Sept. 25. Discuss chapter 1, “What is Happening to Our Planet Home?” and chapter 2, “The Gospel of Creation,” 9:45 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist after 9 a.m. Mass.
Evening: 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales.
Read chapters 3 and 4 for session three.
 
+ Session three: Monday, Oct. 16, discuss chapter three, “The Human Roots of the Ecological Crisis,” and chapter four, “Integral Ecology,” 9:45 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist after the 9 a.m. Mass.
Evening: 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales.
Read chapters 5 and 6 for session four.
 
+ Session four: Monday, Oct. 23, discuss chapter five, “Lines of Approach and Action,” and chapter six, “Ecological Education and Spirituality,” 9:45 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist after 9 a.m. Mass.
Evening: 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales.
 
Participants are encouraged to attend the Action for Ecological Justice Conference at St. Michael’s College in Colchester on Saturday, Sept.  30.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish 125th anniversary

RUTLAND—The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 125th anniversary and the Nativity of Our Blessed Mother will be celebrated on Saturday. Sept. 9, with a Pontifical Mass at 4 p.m. celebrated by Burlington Bishop Christopher J. Coyne. There will be a pot luck meal in St. Anne’s Hall following the Mass. Reservations are available; call 775-0846.
 

Grandparents’ Day

BENNINGTON—Sept. 10 is Grandparents’ Day. There will be a special blessing for grandparents, living and deceased, at the end of each weekend liturgy at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.

Sodality

NORTH BENNINGTON-- The Ladies of the Sodality of St. John the Baptist Church will resume their meetings beginning Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. in Father DeMasi Hall. New members are welcome to attend.
 

‘Sharing Thoughts’

BELLOWS FALLS—“Sharing Thoughts with Deacon John Blicharz” will feature Deacon Pete Gummere on Searching for Social Justice. Deacon Gummere is director of the Permanent Diaconate for the Diocese of Burlington and a bioethicist and adjunct faculty member at Josephinum Diaconate Institute where he teaches courses in medical morality and moral theology. The program airs Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Fridays at 2:30 p.m. on Fact 8 TV. History of the Sisters of St. Joseph

RUTLAND—Sister of St. Joseph Mary Harvey will present a program on the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph with a special focus on the sisters in Rutland on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Kervick Residence, 131 Convent Ave. A donation of $5 is requested, if possible.
