Event Navigation

We are very excited to announce that on the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Diocese of Burlington will be participating in a worldwide Rosary Relay led by Bishop McDermott from St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Burlington.
In 2002, Pope John Paul II announced the Annual World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests to be held on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The first global Rosary relay was launched in 2009 and has been an annual event since. This event serves as a gift from the laity to our wonderful priests to show our love and appreciation. The Diocese of Burlington has participated in this event every year since June 2021.
Beginning at midnight on Friday, June 12, various locations from over 100 different countries will begin to pray the Rosary. Every fifteen minutes, a Rosary will be prayed somewhere in the world. When they have finished, they “pass it on” to the next location until finally the entire world will be encircled in the Rosary just before midnight of the following day. The Diocese of Burlington’s time to pray is 11:30 a.m., and we will be following people who prayed the Rosary in Haverstock Hill in England. When we finish praying, our prayers will be spiritually passed on to people in prayer at the EWTN chapel in Norway.
Join Bishop John McDermott as he leads the Diocese of Burlington in the Sorrowful Mysteries on Friday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Burlington. If you are unable to attend in person, please plan to join us online (vermontcatholic.org/news/communication/tv-mass/), pray with your parish, or in the privacy of your home.
