March 28 @ 9:00 am - 3:15 pm
Retired Air Force Captain Guy Gruters is our keynote speaker. Guy is a cradle Catholic whose faith didn’t play a significant role for him as a young man. Guy was a POW in Vietnam for 5 ½ years. During his captivity, his faith in God became the most important thing he had, and helped him survive the prison camp, and forgive his captors. Guy will speak on his POW experience, conversion, and forgiveness.
Msgr. John McDermott J.C.L will also be speaking. Msgr. McDermott serves as the Vicar General for the Diocese of Burlington, and is the pastor of Christ the King / St Anthony in Burlington. He has served in several parishes in Vermont. Ordained to the priesthood in 1989, Msgr. McDermott earned an advanced degree in Canon Law from Catholic University of America.
Paul Kendall, from St Mary’s Parish in Springfield, is our final speaker of the day. Paul has been very active in the parish for many years. Encouraging young people to continue practicing their faith is an interest and concern very dear to him. Paul continues to coordinate a monthly Theology on Tap program where people 20-35 gather in a casual setting to listen to speakers talk about the Catholic faith. Paul completed the Diocese Lay Apostolate program, and is now studying in the permanent Diaconate program. Paul will be speaking on Prayer Life as a Lay Person.
