February 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Online Lenten Book Study: The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence with Dcn. Phil Lawson and Fr. Luke Austin leading.

These will be held online via Zoom on the Tuesdays of Lent: Feb. 24th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th from 7-8PM.

Pope Leo XIV referred to this book in a December press conference, seeking to explain a bit about himself: “If you want to know something about me, read ‘The Practice of the Presence of God.’ It describes a way of prayer where one simply gives his life to the Lord and allows the Lord to lead. That has been my spirituality for many years.”

Brother Lawrence was a 17th century Discalced Carmelite. He was a lay brother, deemed not lettered enough to be a priest, assigned to work in the kitchen. Here he sought and learned to always place himself in the Presence of God. His holiness and spiritual wisdom became known and his conversations, letters, and spiritual practices (maxims) were preserved.

Countless Christians have found in this short spiritual masterpiece encouragement and practical wisdom for growing in holiness, growing in the Practice of the Presence of God in all circumstances.
