The School of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales in Bennington is marking its 130th anniversary as it celebrates Catholic Schools Week.

“The faculty and staff here at the School of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales are so excited to celebrate our 130th year of Catholic education in Bennington along with how wonderful our school is and how grateful we are for our entire community,” said Tiffany McKenna, principal.

The celebration began Jan. 30 with a Mass at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. The next day, Burlington Bishop Christopher Coyne was scheduled to celebrate Mass at the church for the school community.

During the special week and anniversary celebration, students will send letters of gratitude to local businesses, enjoy a 130-second dance party and participate in 130 seconds of prayer or silence for the nation’s veterans.

Other activities scheduled include a dress-down day, movies and making paper chains with prayer intentions.

A closing Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington at 11 a.m. Feb. 6.
