Faith Ascending – November 13
November 13’s Faith Ascending featured a talk on biblical typology by Fr. Timothy Naples.
Typology is a theological discipline which concerns itself with the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. First explicitly mentioned by Saint Paul himself in his epistles to the Romans and Colossians, typology proved extremely important to the early Church as Christians struggled to determine the relationship between the Old Testament and the emerging, still-forming New Testament. Today, typology is an intrinsic part of every expression of the faith, from the readings the Church assigns for Mass throughout the liturgical year to the art which adorns her churches. In his talk, Fr. Naples discussed some well-known examples of scriptural typology, and how Catholics can study the concept further and incorporate it into their faith life.
Faith Ascending is a monthly series of lectures and presentations over dinner and drinks, geared towards young adults of the diocese. Interested parties are encouraged to check our diocesan event calendar for future dates.
