Antonnette Joan Kania Hahr died Sept. 13.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1933, in Dunellen, New Jersey, the daughter of William and Rose (Humiencki) Kania.

She married Edward Paul Hahr Sr., and they shared 52 years together before his death in 2006.

She was a founding member of the Kirby Quilters and a Kirby Hilltopper 4-H leader.

While raising her 10 children she worked alongside her husband as a bookkeeper for Hahr Construction. She later enjoyed a career in sales working for Hovey Shops, Ben Franklin, PJs Hallmark, Bib & Tucker, Aubuchon and Duck Soup.

She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Parish based in St. Johnsbury.

Along with her husband she was also predeceased by her parents, her sons Steven (2012) and Hans (2021). She was also predeceased by her siblings: Mary and husband Frank Niederle; and Harriet and husband Louis Scalera.

She is survived by her sister, Stella Lawrence; brother, William (Pam) Kania; and sister-in-law Honora Hahr. She is also survived by her children Edward, Jim, Christopher, Joanie, Joel (Angie), Greg (Beth), Father Karl and Amy (Jim) Bacon; and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be at Sayles Funeral Home in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. for the public, with a prayer service at 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. with her son, Father Karl Hahr, as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary. Friends and family are also invited to the family home at 109 Sanger Circle, St. Johnsbury Center, following the burial.
