On September 18, Father Francis Eksterowicz entered into eternal repose.
Father Eksterowicz was born to Anthony Eksterowicz and Mary Bozicevich on August 11, 1937. He was predeceased by his only brother, Anthony Eksterowicz. He leaves behind a niece, Holly Ciampa, and cousins Joanne Boardman and Emileen Klos.
He was a great example of a man who followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him to Heaven. He was very proud of his attendance at the Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He was an avid learner and graduated from LaSalle College in Philadelphia with a bachelor’s in Latin education and a Masters in Religion. Father Eksterowicz earned a Master’s in French from Middlebury College in Vermont, as well as a Master’s in Divinity. He entered Mount St. Mary’s Seminary for the Diocese of Burlington, and was ordained by Bishop Marshall on January 19,1985.
His priestly ministry began as Parochial Vicar at St. Michael in Brattleboro and St. Mark in Burlington from 1985 to 1987. He also served as Temporary Administrator at St. Jerome in East Dorset, Holy Trinity in Danby, St. Ambrose in Bristol, and St. Anthony in Bethel. He served from 1988 to 1990 as Parochial Vicar at St. Anthony in Bethel, and as Administrator of St. Sylvester in Graniteville from 1990 to 1996, becoming Pastor in 1994. He also served as Pastor at All Saints in Richford, St. Isidore in Montgomery Center, and Our Lady of Lourdes in East Berkshire from 1996 to 2007. His diocesan responsibilities included serving as Chaplain at Michaud Manor, and as Spiritual Director of the Vermont Cursillo Movement. Father Eksterowicz was granted Senior Priest status on July 2, 2007, and retired to Sebastian, Florida.
Interment will be on October 1, 2024 at 11 am at Queen of Angels Cemetery, 1901 Queen of Angels Drive, Winter Park, FL, 32792.
