Vermont Catholic Charities hires two new counselors
Vermont Catholic Charities is expanding their counseling services with two new counselors joining the team. Brooke Wright and Shawn Bohac are both former interns that are continuing their work with the agency.
Shawn Bohac, M.A., is a full-time pre-licensed clinician at Vermont Catholic Charities. He holds a Master of Arts in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from Saint Michael’s College, a Master of Arts in Theology from Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky. He works with a wide variety of clients ranging from adolescents to older adults, as well as couples.
“I’m fascinated by the mind and how people navigate life. I find it incredibly meaningful to help people become more authentic versions of themselves. It’s a very fulfilling career to be with people oftentimes in their darkest moments and then to help them find some peace and hope,” he said.
As he begins this new chapter with Vermont Catholic Charities, he looks forward to continuing this meaningful work alongside a team of dedicated professionals.
“I’m really excited to be part of the team. We have numerous, excellent clinicians and staff working at Vermont Catholic Charities and it’s quite an honor to be working among people who I really respect.”
Brooke Wright graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mental Health and Human Services and a minor in Anthropology and earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Vermont State University. She has experience working within school systems alongside youth and young adults, while also enjoying work with adults and older adults. She grew up in Vermont and is a mother of seven children.
“I love the human person. I think there’s always so much to learn about each individual person,” she said.
She encourages anyone considering counseling services to take the first step and give it a try.
“If you are interested in Vermont Catholic Charities, I feel like they do a really good job trying to find the right match for you. Whenever we meet with somebody it’s always a good time to just get to know somebody and see if it might be a good fit. There’s never any pressure and you’re never locked into anything right away so you have the freedom to see if it’s something that might be helpful for you.”
Vermont Catholic Charities is committed to making counseling accessible and affordable. Services are available through both telehealth and in-person appointments, with most health insurance plans accepted and a sliding scale fee offered.
