Lecture by Dr. Dawn Eden Goldstein, STD, on Recent Book, Father Edward Dowling, SJ: The Apostle to Alcoholics Anonymous

Dawn Eden Goldstein is an American Roman Catholic author, journalist, and songwriter. Goldstein became the first woman in the University of St. Mary of the Lake’s history to receive a Doctor of Sacred Theology degree. Goldstein’s fifth book, Father Ed: The Story of Bill W.’s Spiritual Sponsor, published by Orbis Books in November 2022, was a biography of Father Edward Dowling, SJ. Publishers Weekly called it “a powerful take on an often overlooked spiritual influence on Alcoholics Anonymous.” The book won a 2023 Christopher Award in the Books for Adults category. Dr, Goldstein will present on her research and finding regarding the influence of Fr. Dowling, SJ, on Bill Wilson, a co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and the spirituality of the twelve-step movement.
