Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Learn more about RCIA by reading the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops RCIA FAQs. To learn more about RCIA in the Diocese of Burlington, contact your parish or the diocesan director of evangelization and catechesis.
Adult Confirmation
“Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit — his actions, his gifts, and his biddings — in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life.” —Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1309
The Diocese of Burlington offers a seven-session course for adults who have been baptized but were never confirmed as young people. For more information on this program, contact your parish or the diocesan director of evangelization and catechesis.
