Read about the adventures of our former missionaries

During my time as a missionary in Totus Tuus I formed some of the greatest friendships. In fact, all my former teammates will be a part of my upcoming wedding this summer as altar servers and bridesmaids! Some of my favorite memories with them were spent hiking the mountains of Vermont, exploring local farms, and of course playing disk golf. I treasure these moments as a huge part of me as I formed these lifelong friendships through the program. Nothing beats praying the Liturgy of the Hours with some of the best people you’ll ever meet while the sun sets through the Green Mountains!” – Ellie Luttrell

“I’m forever grateful for the happy camaraderie of my Totus Tuus team. The program can be grueling and stretching, but we learned to lean upon one another, especially through our life of communal prayer. We also learned the joy that comes from standing shoulder to shoulder, together laboring after the shared goal of spreading the Gospel and its saving truths. I’ll never forget the kindness and loving endurance of my teammates.” – Fr. Kevin Chalifoux

“I spent two summers as a Totus Tuus Missionary, and it turned out to be one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Vermont, with its breathtaking landscapes and New England charm, was the perfect backdrop for this journey.
The parishioners and the kids were welcoming, and there was always something new to explore with my teammates during our downtime. Totus Tuus wasn’t just a mission; it was a journey of growth, renewal, and adventure.” – Alayna Fox

Totus Tuus, rocks! Here is a picture sometime after the program ended and fellow missionaries met up at Mount Saint Mary’s University and we took a goofy photo together. The experience of emptying yourself sharing the Gospel over the summer is enlivening, challenging, and ultimately extremely rewarding. The result of Totus Tuus is shared experiences with people who you will forever have connections with far after the program ends.” – Anthony Maurice

Totus Tuus rocked my world. I learned to love the Lord and let the Lord love me. I saw His face in little children, in the Sacraments, and in the beauty of Vermont. Through visiting so many parishes all across the State, I saw the Diocese of Burlington in a whole new light. Christ is here and there is hope. Totus Tuus taught me how to pass on the Catholic faith to all ages, gave me lifelong friends, and showed me that it is in giving that we receive. Take the leap and apply to be a missionary!” – Rachel Lavallee

Unpredictable in the best kind of way: that is how I would describe my experience with Totus Tuus! Teammates are unpredictable, children are unpredictable, mission locations are unpredictable. Somehow, four very different people are placed into one team, and those four very different people become friends and complement each other. Somehow, you influence kids from every background and bring them closer to Jesus, even when you might be a mess inside. Somehow, you maneuver each mission location with tact, grace, and creativity and change hearts and minds for eternity, most especially your own. The secret ingredient: our wonderful and Blessed Mother, for who we are Totus Tuus.” – Faith Barton

“I served the Diocese of Burlington as a Totus Tuus missionary for 3 summers. Each one of those summers were unforgettable and life changing. My teammates became some of my closest friends, and I still talk to them despite living in different parts of the country. The children and parishes that we served were all amazing. It was such a gift to be able to bring Christ to so many people across the state. The combination of community, teaching, and prayer makes for a wonderful and faith-filled summer. There’s no better place to serve the Church for a summer than in Vermont. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location or for a more welcoming diocese.” – Joey brooks
