“The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus Christ.” – St. John Vianney
Come and Follow Me
“As He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, ‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed Him” (Mt 4:18-20). Jesus Christ is both the source and the destination of every vocation. He called His first priests by name, and they left everything at once and followed Him. They offered their lives in the service of the Gospel and found great joy and fulfillment in the adventure of following Christ’s call. How is Jesus calling you to serve His Church?
What are you looking for?
This is the question that our Lord asks those who became His first disciples. With time, they came to discover that He was the one they were looking for. However, the reality is that Jesus had first come looking for them; He found them first and called. That is always the Lord’s way. Perhaps the Lord Jesus has been searching for you, seeking you out, so that in finding you open to Him, you may be ready to hear His call. What are you looking for? What has brought you here? Perhaps Jesus is calling you to serve Him in a special way as His priest. The Vocations Department of the Diocese of Burlington is here to help you discern our Lord’s plan for your life. Do not be afraid!
