The Saint John’s Bible Presentation

The Saint John’s Bible, commissioned by Saint John’s Abbey, Collegeville, MN, is the first handwritten and illuminated Bible to be produced since the invention of the printing press. This Bible is a unique mixture of ancient methods, using materials and tools similar to those employed by medieval monks, blending these with modern themes and images. The Bible is in seven volumes, and a copy of the Gospels volume is on loan to the parish for a brief time.
Come and view this unique work of art and craftsmanship, and listen to a presentation and discussion about the artists and the story of the making of The Saint John’s Bible . Monday, May 22, 9:00-10:00 am, and from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Hoehl Room of the Holy Family Parish Center in Essex Junction. Discussion led by Edward Mahoney.
