Art display

RUTLAND-- Eight Mount St. Joseph Academy seniors have their artwork on display in The Annual Student Art Exhibition, "Our Global Community" through May 19 at the Chaffe Art Center. Seniors featured are Adam Babb, Jenna Eaton, Shanon Elms, Bethany Garrow, Gabriella Giancola, Shareef Harrison, Dylan Potter and Jack Whittake.

MSJ basketball

RUTLAND-- The 2016-17 Lady Mounties began the season with three goals: Win the Green Mountain Tournament, Marble Valley League Championship and the Vermont State Championship. Through hard work and dedication they were able to accomplish all of these goals while finishing the season at 22-1 and bringing home their third straight Division 4 state championship. In addition, Jenna Eaton '17 and Shannon Elms '17 were selected to the North/South teams. 
The 2016-2017 MSJ boys’ basketball season began strong with a 6-0 start and finishing the season 15-5. They were able to continue their success all the way to the state championship game, an accomplishment highlighted with a victory over Mill River Union High School in the semifinals. In addition, Jelani William '17 and Kai Norwood '17 were selected to the North/South teams. 

‘The Wild Goose’

RUTLAND--The film series, “The Wild Goose” with Father Dave Pivonka will be presented in Rutland. Learn about the attributes of the Holy Spirit and practical application on how to respond and hear testimonies of people throughout the country whose lives have been impacted by the Spirit of God. The series is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. College of St. Joseph graduation

RUTLAND—Former Vermont Governor Jim Douglas will deliver the commencement address at the College of St. Joseph graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 13, which begins at 1 p.m. in the athletic center.

Golf open

BRATTLEBORO—The Saints of St. Michael School Golf Open will take place Saturday, May 20, in memory of Saint Michael parishioner Charles “Chuck” Gouger.  The tournament will take place on the newly updated Crumpin-Fox course in Bernardston, Mass. Fatima celebration

BRATTLEBORO—In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Marian apparitions in Fatima, at the St. Michael Parish youth center there will be a movie night, “The 13th Day,” on Friday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be provided.

Dismas House backpack program

RUTLAND--St. Peter Church parishioners’ Backpack Program was again a success. Collected during the Lenten program were 727 items such as deodorant, soaps, body sponges, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, laundry detergent, tissues, toothpaste and tooth brushes. In addition, $490 in cash and checks and $780 in Wal-Mart gift cards were donated for the residents of Dismas House.  

Comedy show DVD’s

SPRINGFIELD--Six different DVD’s of Father Peter Williams’ comedy

Dismas House dinner/auction

RUTLAND--The 27th annual Rutland Dismas House dinner/auction will take place Sunday, May 21, at the Holiday Inn. Doors will open at 3 p.m. Tickets are $60 and must be purchased in advance. Information is online at dismasofvermont.org/rutland or by calling 802-775-5539.
