Regional Lector Training Session (Initial Session)

If you have not attended a Diocesan Lector Formation session in the past six years, please sign up for an initial session. Otherwise, please select an advance session. You’re welcome to sign up for both the initial and the advance session if you would like and your schedule allows, but please know that attendance at both sessions is neither expected nor required.

Initial Lector Session – Preparation, Prayer, and Practice: The Week Before the Proclamation
In order to effectively proclaim the Holy Word of God at Mass, lectors must commit to solid preparation, prayer, and practice in the week prior to the Mass at which the reading will be proclaimed. This workshop presents a method of preparation that will help lectors get to know their reading so they can better proclaim the power of the Word of God rather than simply reading words from a page. Without proper preparation, prayer, and practice, a lector’s ministry will be incomplete.
